5 November 2019, Empa, Dübendorf, Switzerland

The large volume of electricity production capacities from the fluctuating sources wind and solar, installed in recent years is the first step towards a CO2 and nuclear waste free energy future. Nevertheless, to transform this vision to reality, a strong focus needs to be set on storage for the sake of grid stability and independence.

In light of this context, the  SCCER Heat- and Electricity Storage  and the  IEA Technology Collaboration Programme (TCP), Material and Component Development for Thermal Energy Storage, Annex 33  would like to invite you to the 8th SCCER Heat and Electricity Storage Symposium.

The program of the morning session covers the aspects of heat storage and is closely linked to IEA TCP, Annex 33. In the afternoon, the focus is set on storage of hydrogen, conversion of CO2 as well as on batteries.

The SCCER HaE proudly announces the confirmation of the following speakers:

  • Teun Bokhoven, Chair of the IEA Energy Storage TCP Executive Committee, Chair of TKI Urban Energy (NL)
  • Christian Doetsch, Fraunhofer Umsicht (D)
  • Tom Kober, PSI (CH)
  • Andreas Hauer, ZAE (D)
  • Luca Baldini, Empa (CH)
  • Michel Haller, HSR (CH)
  • Heena Yang, EPFL (CH)
  • María de Jesús Gálvez Vázquez, UniBe (CH)
  • Andreas Gut, Innosuisse (CH)
  • Michael Moser, BFE (CH)
  • Xiaojin Zhang, PSI (CH)

The highlight at the end of the day is the variety of excursions being offered. You are free to choose one out of four options: a tour through NEST, the Energy Hub Demonstrator, move or on the topic of Urban Mining.

The participation is free of charge, but the registration is mandatory till October 22, 2019. The conference language is English.

Poster presentations are very welcome; please submit your abstract here until October 22, 2019.

The SCCER HaE hopes you find the program attractive and would like to welcome you on November 5, 2019, at Empa in Dübendorf for discussions, sharing viewpoints or simply updating your state of knowledge. Further information can be found on the website. Talks and videos from the past symposia are available on-line.
