I like to move it is an initiative by the foundations The Ark and CleantechAlps supporting innovation to tackle challenges and promote sustainability in the field of future mobility. Right now, stakeholders in Switzerland can submit project proposals. A jury of experts will choose the winning project and the team is rewarded a cash prize of CHF 10’000. The Watt d'Or is awarded by the Swiss Federal Office of Energy for excellent energy projects. On 7 January 2021, it will be awarded for the fourteenth time. The VCÖ Mobility Award is Austria’s largest competition for climate-friendly and sustainable passenger and freight transport solutions. Research funding for safer mobility

The AXA Foundation for Prevention funds research projects from all disciplines that promote safer mobility and contribute to accident prevention in urban areas. New calls for clean aviation and railway now open

Two Horizon 2020 Joint Undertaking (JU) initiatives, Clean Sky and Shift2Rail, have published the 2020 calls for proposals in the transport areas of clean aviation and railway. Clean Sky JU is the largest European research program developing innovative, cutting-edge technology aimed at reducing CO2, gas emissions and noise levels produced by aircraft. Euresearch is the Swiss guide to the European Research and Innovation Framework Program Horizon 2020. After 7 years, a new program, Horizon Europe, will replace Horizon 2020 starting in 2021. Eni Award 2020 call for proposals

The Eni Award annually honors the best research projects in the field of energy and environment and is addressed to scientists and researchers from around the world. Starting from this year, the Eni Award assigns three main international Prizes, two national Prizes reserved for Italian PhD holders and four Prizes dedicated to young African researchers. Traffic4cast Challenge 2019

The Institute of Advanced Research in Artificial Intelligence (IARAI) conducts applied and fundamental research in artificial intelligence with an emphasis on geo-spatial data and problems related to traffic and mobility. To promote solutions for sustainable mobility in urban areas, it hosts the TRAFFIC4CAST competition that challenges participants to understand complex traffic systems and predict the future states of such systems. Clean Sky is the largest European research program developing innovative, cutting-edge technology aimed at reducing CO2, gas emissions and noise levels produced by aircraft. The Federal Office for the Environment provides two new interactive tools to search for funding opportunities for energy and environmental research, innovation and education. The Innovation landscape platform gives an overview of the available funding and schemes in Switzerland and Europe. By clicking on a funding instrument, it redirects you to the appropriate website. New one-stop-shop for wind energy

The Guichet Unique (one-stop-shop) for wind energy is the central point of contact and information platform for all topics surrounding wind energy in Switzerland. It is hosted by the Swiss Federal Office of Energy (SFOE). Building a wind park must comply with national and public interests like air traffic safety, environmental protection and national security and thus involves consulting diverse stakeholders. The initiative ERA-Net Smart Energy Systems supports the realization of the European Union’s goals of leading in renewable energy production, reducing the dependency on fossil fuels and thus lowering greenhouse gas emissions. It funds efforts that develop solutions and innovative business models for local and regional energy systems based on renewable energy sources, up to and beyond 100% by 2030. The projects must address specific needs and involve stake-holders within a local/regional energy system. Venture kick with over 10 years of success

Venture kick is program powered by digitalswitzerland that promotes spin-offs at Swiss universities. Since 2007, it has been helping young companies to speed up their time to the market and bring them together with potential investors and partners. The program consists of three funding phases in which participants pitch their idea, develop their business case and finally kick-start their business. Young entrepreneurs also have a chance to join so called kickers camps, where they receive professional mentoring and get access to a large network.

BRIDGE is a joint program funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) and Innosuisse. With two funding schemes, it supports projects at the interface between basic research and science-based innovation. BRIDGE Proof of Concept helps young scientists who have an idea for transferring their research to marketable products. BRIDGE Discovery supports senior researchers to explore the innovation potential of their scientific results. ETH spin-off record held for 3rd consecutive year

25 new ETH spin-off companies were founded in 2017, thus keeping the record of the previous two years. From these, eight were supported by the ETH Pioneer Fellowship program and seven were co-founded by female scientists. While the focus of the spin-offs represents the wide research portfolio of ETH Zurich, it is apparent that rising digitalization plays an important role.
